To rebuild trust with the community, the School Board must improve transparency about finances, school performance, and especially decision making. The recent botched hiring and firing of a superintendent cost more than $1 million in your tax dollars. With my leadership, these types of management mistakes will not be repeated.
Too many parents feel left out of decision making, or do not receive enough information about actions taken by the Board of Trustees. I will change this by increasing the quality, frequency and transparency of information shared with parents and stakeholders.
For me, student performance is Job #1. My primary focus is students and making sure they get the best possible education. This starts at the top with Trustees who make good decisions to support leadership stability and student learning.
I am committed to making sure our teachers and staff get competitive pay and all the support they need to help our students achieve their dreams. Grand Prairie schools need to attract and keep the best educators.
Private school vouchers threaten public education funding. I will continue to advocate for fully funding our public schools. Vouchers may become law, but we must remain vigilant to be sure our public schools are supported.
We cannot begin to improve our school district until facts are known and shared, and we have accountability. Meeting challenges always begins with a clear understanding of where we need improvement. Honesty - always.
